Youth of Slavic Baptist Church of Peabody, MA

We believe that the Bible is the fully inspired Word of God, written by the apostles whom the Holy Spirit led. We get this from 2 Timothy 3:16, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.”

The Bible tells us that believing in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and being obedient to His word is essential for salvation.  Nevertheless, this is only one part of our duty we are called for, specifically to “run the race that is set before us” as Apostle Paul writes. Believing and accepting Jesus is one thing, but putting God’s Word into practice and living it out is another essential duty we are commanded to fulfill.

Some of the topics we have focused on at youth are;

  1. Evangelism – what does evangelism look like in our daily lives, are we using every opportunity possible to share the Gospel. Also practical steps that guide us on effectively sharing Gods word, a command we are to follow if we claim to be REAL Christian.
  2. Sin – particularly indwelling sin in the life of a Christian, we did a 7 week sermon series uncovering sin and what it means, how it grows like a virus, following the work of John Owen on indwelling sin. I recommend everyone should read “Overcoming Sin & Temptation” by John Owen.
  3. God’s Grace & Mercy – we can’t start to comprehend how amazing God’s grace and mercy is towards us until we understand how corrupt and sinful we are. Understanding God’s characteristics is an important aspect to living out youth faith, running the race to win the crown of life.
  4. Treasuring God and His word – Learning how to treasure God and keep Him sacred in our lives, to seek Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. When you are dating, you spend many countless hours texting/hanging out/talking on the phone, to figure each other out, to find out more about that person because you care for them and therefore want to spend more time with them. How much MORE SO should we act towards God and the relationship we have with Him.

Many are called, but not everyone will finish the race, we are told that the way is narrow.  At Peabody Youth we strive to treasure God above all, to learn more about Him, to dig into the Word of our living God because IF we dig we get diamonds, but IF we rake, we get leaves. Let us not settle for the milk but strive towards eating the meat as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3. We need to be reminded about how majestic our God is because we easily forget and take for granted what He has done for us. Our race set before us is not a sprint, God is not looking for sprinters, He is looking for marathon runners that run until the end and are not chocked out by the desires of this world.

Come join us on Saturday nights at 7, you are never too old to learn more about God, our eternity depends on it. We have young adults as well as younger youth joining us every Saturday so come hang out, meet new people and learn about God’s word, faith, and everyday Christian living.
